I have a '93 explorer, - It stalls when idleing, It stalls at 80mph. It can happen 5 times in a day and it can go 5 days without happening. It can take anywhere from 5 seconds to 5 minutes to re-crank. By the time I can get a meter on it the problem is gone, so I can't seem to trace it. My fuel pressure seems to be around 9psi. Could this be the IAC valve? Would the IAC Valve come into play at highway speeds?
Your fuel pressure should be in the 30-35 PSI range at idle and 40-45 PSI key on engine off. Assuming your pressure really is around 9 PSI, sounds like fuel pump relay or pump itself is going bad. Relay is under the fuse box in the engine compartment area.
If you have not actually measured fuel system pressure, do so and if low look at fuel pump relay, pump and (fuel pressure regulator if you hear the pump running but pressure is low).
IAC serves no function at highway speed so is not likely your problem.
