CVPI Front End into 55 Effie
Read some of the other posts. Additional info:
My front end is centered in the wheel well (approximately 1-1/4" forward) and I welded a plate on the motor mounts which moved the mounting bolt rearward by 1". This gave me approximately 1-1/2" clearance from the engine to the firewall.

No problem with the driveshaft or the gears. Set pinion at upward at 7 degrees. Same mounting and degrees as a stock explorer.
Used 2005 CVPI wiring harness complete. Not difficult to lengthen, shorten or eliminate circuitry wiring. You can get away with eliminating a lot of the circuitry if you want. I am temporarily using the stock CV steering wheel assembly and linkage (shortened connector shaft by 3") with all the features for the CV so everything was "plug and play". Computer is mounted on the driver side firewall and the fuse and relay box on the passenger side firewall. Found complete wiring schematics online at local library.

What engine wiring harness are you using? I'm thinking about installing a 4.6 but can't find good info on a harness other than buying a custom built one for $900 or it takes a long time to modify the original. Really can't find good info on what MUST be installed for the ECM to operate.

I had my 96 Lincoln Mark VIII 4.6 DOHC Harness thinned by Chuck Field mustang-medic@hotmail.com
Apparently & unfortunatly he's only able to do up to '02 systems... the 03-11, he's not equipped to do programming.
Thanks for the referral though!
