86 E-150 conversion van rebuild
Im new here and i am rebuilding my van from the ground up.
I lived in chicago and thats where i bought my van and they use alot of salt on the streets there.....now i live in seattle where it rains alot......alot of salt + alot of rain = RUST ROT MAJOR TIME.
The body is a loss, holes big enough to put a football in. So im changing bodys. I found a body and frame that has no rust...but all the running gear and interior is a loss.....so from the two vans im makeing a new one......i completly striped the unrusted one down to the bare frame and body .....no dash...no wires...no windows....no engine....no front or rear end....I cleaned under the body and undercoated the body and frame....then swaped front and rear ends after cleaning them added new brakes front and rear. I found some new gas tanks as the ones on it were from a carbarated engine and mine were rusted out......now im sanding the body for a new paint job......dark green/metal flake clear coat.
Then i,ll swap all my windows...seats...ect. from the rusted one over to the new one.......i have already rebuilt the engine 302 fuel injected.....new drive shaft.....tranny is great shape.
I,ll post some pic,s when i can............I do have a question on fuel filters i posted in the fuel section......any answers would be great........i,ll keep you posted........86 vanman
