Ok so here goes.. One day I trid to start my truck, 94 b3000, and dont catch it on the first try, as in I start to turn it over built let go before it fires up. So I try to turn the key again and it just turns over without firing.. I wait a few minutes, try again, and it fires right up.. This didnt happen again for a while so I thought it went away.. Wrong... A week or so later I pulled up to the gas station, got out, pumped my gas and when I tried to start it guess what lol no start just turns over.. I've had the truck long enough to know how long I have to turn the key before it fires up and it wasn't happening.. So I sat patiently for a few minutes. Turned the key and it fires.. Now it's starting to do it alot more frequently. I have figured out a few things though. So if I get in and the CEL does NOT come on its not gonna start. If I turn the key off and on eventually it will come on and will start. Also when I turn the key and the light comes on I can hear the fuel pump prime.. No CEL no fuel pump. So my question is it a bad fuel pump or ignition switch or........... Honestly I'm stumped any help would be amazing
THANKS!!!!!!!
have you checked/changed your fuel pump relay lately? Sounds more like the relay than anything else. Dont know about mazdas, but this was a problem with the ranger.
Had the same problem with my 94 .. it was the EEC relay .. if you have a/c try swapping the two relays as they are the same. see if that helps your starting problems .. they are located in the power distribution box under the hood next to the battery.
