greetings folks,
I have acquired one of the old D-4 diesel engines, they guy i got it from claimed it was factory in a '64 F-350, i'm skeptical. the situation i'm in is finding parts for it to put in a *****'s pick up. i have the bellhousing, and a clutch. What i need are parts numbers for a throwout bearing and the possibility of finding an adapter plate.

No F350 came with a diesel engine until 1983.
Dagenham 4's (220 or 242 cid) & 6's (330 or 363 cid) were installed in 1961/70 P350/500 Parcel Delivery's, C500/700, F500/700, N500/700.
There is a cross reference chart Dagenham to Ford engine part numbers in the 1964/72 Ford truck parts catalog, but no trans related parts are listed.
Thanks a lot, i'll start with the F500, and see where i can get from there. it's nice to find someone who actually knows that these motors even existed
You can not make a general statement like that. This '64 F 350 could have been special ordered with a diesel thru the DSO sysem.
All sorts of stuff could be ordered under a DSO that will not be shown in parts catalogs. First factory installed not a DSO diesel: Navistar 6.9L 1983 F250/350.
So, what diesel might this be? Do you have the fleet managers data book that shows that a diesel could be DSO ordered for a 1964 F350?
A DSO truck could have been built with the period offerings at the time, depending of course how much extra $$$ the original buyer wanted to spend. Many of these trucks are "one off" and there probably very, few if any, others like it built in the country. A 330 MD or 361 HD in a '64 F 350 ? why not it would fit under the hood. The Dag diesel that was a standard option in a 1 ton Parcel Vans (4cyl) or a N or C series (6cyl) could have been special ordered and installed in a 1 ton F series. Some Detroit 4-53's were special ordered on '62-'63 C series for customers who prefered that engine over the English Dag and were willing to pay for it.
I originally did not know the year when I first posted ID help under another string I initiated. Meanwhile, I was casting about to find the info on any thread that had this type of diesel.
I wish I could re-post my request in the correct forum but now it is moot between you and Triple Beam, so thanks and sorry for the cross posting.
