I'm gonna say my drums were outta sync with one another. Was driving at about 50km, as I was slowing down I heard the pop, and my foot went to the floor, quick enough reaction to hit my e-brake to stop at the light. Fiancé and I were just doing a night drive. Nothing outta the ordinary, after I scared the poop outta her, we pulled over so I could look for obvious signs of carnage. Well none of my lines broke, the master isn't leaking, lid is on tight, only thing I could think of was the booster. I close the hood, and drive around this parking lot doing dead stops. It just felt like the vacuum was toast, foot to the floor, it would stop but not as close to the upper part of the pedal. So thinking I might have to go to the dealership in the am for a booster, I start to head home (I can still stop, just spongy). After 2 min driving I hear the screeching, pull over and start feeling the calipers thinking one had slipped, then work my way to the drums. Glad I stopped. While it was not cherry red hot, the drivers side was warm enough for me to call the tow truck, so guess I will be digging into this problem tomorrow.

I'm guessing you have two different problems here. I really don't know about the first, but I'm guessing that your parking break stuck after you used it to stop, hence the extremely heated drums in the rear. It's not too uncommon, especially if you don't use the parking break very often.
Well made it back to the house, on a flat deck. Bought the new hardware , I'm gonna take a stab at it and say it was the strut arm spring between the shoes that caused the failure, either way, best to install new parts with new parts. I'll post some pics when I'm into it.
a bad booster will give you a rock hard brake pedal. it sounds like your master cylinder popped an internal seal on the piston. that is the only thing that will give you a soft to the floor pedal if there are no leaks.
Figure I update, the problem was in the drum, the adjustment screw end cap fell off. Taking out the strut spring, the rebuild kits don't include this spring, so here is a napa code if others have the same issue, or want new springs completely,
