I like flaps and they are a good thing up here as most roads are gravel. But when hunting and wheeling they get torn off the first time ya cross a ditch and don't make it and have to back out. So a hanger with a quick disconnect like a receiver hitch has should work so they can easily be removed when wheeling. I doubt there is anything on the market like what I am saying so I guess I need to build a hanger. Than I too can have flaps.

Or trim them just short enough to not reach the back tires.
I just got a fix it ticket from a very youg and enthusiastic California highway patrolman for no mud flaps. Kid didn't know that my truck didn't come with them but I wasn't going to argue. Now I have to find something and clamp it on for one of my buddies to sign off the cite.
I know of a guy that welded round stock to his frame, with a small hole drilled in the end for an R key to fit in, the flaps slide on and off with ease and the bar is up out of the way. He uses his truck for bogs and drives it home if nothing breaks.
my truck had flaps mounted to underbody tool boxes in front of the tires, and flaps behind the tires. Was a little bit much, imo, and they were really stiff rubber with big metal weights on the ends, which made it difficult to stick your head under to check out the rear end and stuff. I took em off. The brackets are still welded to the bed for the rear ones, but they aren't required here in WV and I can't find any decent looking 12" wide flaps to fit them, and they wouldn't really be good for a play truck anyway.
the flaps on there before had thin chain going to the weights so they couldn't reach the tires.

"WTF" was exactly what I said when he pulled me over, he probably didn't like me challenging him but when he approached me and we made initial contact then he told me the reason he pulled me over. "Mud Flaps!" I took my sunglasses and moved then down from my face and I looked over the top and said "Mud Flaps? Really? That's a rather pathetic equipment violation wouldn't you say?" I'm 50 and he was around his mid 20's so he was young and wanted to do his job. My other job is Public Safety Communications Engineering so I talk the "Talk" being around cops and firefighters all day. I told my story to other cops I know and they all just rolled their eyes and said some really nice choice words about the CHP.
Here's the back end of my truck. Around here this is very typical of almost all four wheel drives trucks.
I wouldn't waste you time putting them back on unless you want to or your state requires them. California Vehicle Code is rather vague on the specifics of the mud flaps and CHP has their own policy on how to enforce this law and its just as vague as the CVC. I plan on temproarally bolting something on and have one of my buddies sign it off then I'll remove them and forget it ever happened.
I'd like to get a set that say "CAUTION: WIDE TURNS" They'd fit the truck perfectly, just like the song says "give me forty acres and I'll turn this rig around!"
Here's what I've got on there now:
The only problem I have with them is they drag on the ground with the truck loaded up.
