Frame horns vs GM

I have got a problem and I know you guys can help me with it. My frame(55) has bee subbed with a GM clip(Firebird). The problem is on the front it still has the GM frame horns, my question is how do I determine how far and how high do I put the 55 front frame section for the radiator craddle? I know I will have to cut the front off the GM clip and graft the stock one on ,but at what point?

This is one of the biggest problems with cutting your frame in half and stubbing on a foreign subframe. There is no magic place to put the rad support back where it belongs. It's going to be totally trial and error on your part, mocking up your front end sheet metal and placing your mount accordingly. Good luck.

I can tell you this much.

Stock frame rails are 34 inches wide.

The front end dip (from the long level portion of the frame rails. ie where the cab sits to where the frame horns level) is 2 and 3/4 inches. This is what it says in the shop manual. I got this photo from Das54 and just illustrated what i mean. Surely he doesn't mind.

Someone on here should know the length of the frame rails.

Edit: I think I misunderstood what you were asking.
