Help!!! What do I do now?

Truck was blowing white smoke very badly and was told by many on this site that the EGR cooler was bad. So I just got the cooler off and it appears to me to be clean. I connected it to a water hose to check for any obstruction and it seems to be fine. I'm starting to freak out... I'm afraid that this repair may be going beyond what I'm capable of doing.

Hook up water to the one end, plug the other point where the water comes out. Then you will hopefully not see water coming out where the exhaust comes in or out.

The EGR cooler doesn't "plug". It splits and leaks coolant into the exhaust side. The oil cooler is what plugs. (coolant side of oil cooler)

Try that and see what happens.

As Sean pointed out, obstruction isn't the issue. if it had coolant in the exhaust side when you pulled it out it's a leaker. would have looked somthing like this:

I see you have an 04, is it an "early build" ICP under turbo, or a "late Build" ICP on valve cover?

This is where the ICP is on a late build, passenger side valve cover. In this picture, it is at the very bottom center, brown color sensor.

Nice picture. If he had just tipped it up and it was a leaker, he more than likely would have had fluid dripping out of the cooler just as your picture shows.

Now I'll be surprised if it is a round cooler!!!! 03 style.

Pretty confident saying Bullet proof. Click here--->>EGR Coolers .look around on their website while your there.
Most folks change the oil cooler also. EGR cooler failure is often caused by a clogging oil cooler. I went with the OEM but there are a few options.

^^^^Agree with Rusty.

But, you really need to go deeper and change that oil cooler, or, there is a chance you will be back to where you are soon.

I take it you don't have a monitoring system in place for future temp checks?

A monitor would have shown this coming I would bet. ECT vs EOT would have had a big spread.

Good luck!!

When I did mine I posted a bunch of pictures. Here's the thread:
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...many-pics.html

Not so much a how-to thread but other folks kicked in along the way and there's some good info on part numbers, prices and shipping, along with torques and general info. ( and did I mention pictures ?)

Lol,,yup I went out for a while but I made one post on my phone sitting in line at KFC getting lunch for my wife and me. Earlier it was the couch and a laptop, now I'm on the IPad sitting in the garage. Just got back from my in-laws picking up my pressure washer. Seems like i was here the whole time hu? Guess I got a problem....hi my name is Rusty and I'm an Internetoholic and FTE is my favorite!

Hate ya gotta work on Saturday! I know what that's like we've worked a lot of overtime the last couple of months, but I'm off today. Grandson's birthaday later and Alabama Football !!
