One of my front shocks finally blew and it feels like a love boat going down the highway. What are some good brands you guys have ran? Didnt have much luck with the search.
Also, I have a 2" suspension lift. Do you measure eyebolt to eyebolt?
Most people on here like the Bilsteins. I have them on my truck. Can't say I see much difference between them and other shocks. I don't have a refined butt like some of the guys on here.
my '97 has Bilsteins, I have never gotten 2 years out of a set before one is leaking. the truck sees less than 12,000 miles per year. my '99 has Gabriel shocks on it with no problems since I have owned it.

Hey hey my friend! Which Gabriels do you use? I KNOW your truck gets used like a truck...
I was wondering about this topic to. Ill need some pretty soon and been debating them. Im thinking about trying the Zone off road ones since thats who I went with on the leveling kit. Seem pretty decent price seeing as I can get all 4 and a dual steering stabilizer for about 350. Has anyone used there shocks?

I run Gabriel Ultra on everything anymore. that is what is on my '99 service truck and just put them on the excursion. also what I install on customer vehicles. I have not had to warranty any of them yet.
I am running regular Monroe reflex shocks, I got them on sale at advance auto parts. I paid 75.00 for all 4, with a lifetime warranty so it's no big deal to change them.
This is jmo,
I have run hd bilstiens on my 2000 X for 6 years, no problems yet, 216'xxx on truck, work great when towing or truck is loaded with gear for snowmobiling, hunting, whatever. Truck rides ruff when truck is empty.
The 2002 and the 2005 have rancho xl9000's, I really like the adjustability of the rancho's, the 2000 x will be getting xl9000's some day.
The dually has used shocks taken off another dually with 45K miles. That truck also a 99 currently has 53K miles and is still owned by the original 75 year old owner. He went to ford in late 99 and couldn't decide between the F250, Excursion and F350 dually so he bought one of each!
The F250 has monroe shocks now for a couple years and they work just fine.
Very recently the Excursion had the adjustable Rancho 9000's installed and they are nice.
