Roof supports

The other day, while crawling around on the roof of my supercab, the cross bars popped off the roof and are now hanging down.

I don't see any welds, and both bars appear to have adhesive strips on them. The bar going front-back I can understand, but the bar going left-right has a lot of tension on it, and I don't think an adhesive strip would be able to hold it up. From what I remember, the two bars were connected, but I'm not so sure.

Here's how it looks

My question is, are these bars connected, and what would be the best way to keep them up? Welds or adhesive?

Thanks
Jameson

I had that happen and ended up using four short fat self taping sheet metal screws . Don't run them though the roof.

The way I understand it, the bows are just a friction fit.

More than likely over the years either snow build up or more likely some kids climbed on the roof and squished the roof and the bows down at the same time.

They're supposed to be spot-welded. The rub strip is just that - to prevent metal-on-metal scraping & vibration and to avoid oil-canning/drumming of that huge plane of sheetmetal.

Do they weld together in the center too?

Thanks

Both bars are welded to the cab at either end. It looks like they would be welded together, but the amount of pressure needed on the left-right bar to get it up to the front-back would break spot welds..
