quick help transmission interchangeability
the reverse band (i am guessing) broke in my 2003 2wd 4.0 ranger but I mistakenly got a tranny from a 2003 3.0 2wd ranger will they swap? I can use parts like the bellhousing or whatever from the 4.0 tranny?
i think the reverse band is broke because when it was put in reverse there was a big bang and it drives forward fine and the tranny fluid looks perfect.

The transmissions are not interchangeable. The bell housings are actually part of the transmission body and hold the front pump. Usually if all that is broke is the reverse band and everything else appears fine on inspection it is put back together. The 3.0 transmissions internals are weaker than the 4.0's transmission. I would call a transmission shop to see if they make take the 3.0 transmission that you have as payment for fixing the correct one in your truck. The most they will say is "No".
