Been reading several threads about replacing the oem shocks with ranch 9000 xl...Question is what type of shocks do I have? All the threads refer to the fx4 package which I dont have. They state how horrible the oem shock is in the fx4.. Are my shocks better since I dont have the fx4 package?I know the fx4 package is supposed to have better shocks then mine but it appears they are junk.Just wondering if its worth the upgrade or not in my application. I tow a 10 k travel trailer.Ride isnt too bad but when I hit bumpy rutty roads it can be harsh..
Do yourself a favor and order all 5 shocks....Bilstein 5100's.
And yes, the 'Rancho-branded' shocks are the same as the black ones, just a different color.

Right now im procrastinating between the bilsteins and rancho 9000xl.. I know they will both be upgrades but cant make my mind up.I like the adjustability of the ranchos, but is there that much of a difference after making them harder or softer or is it a mind thing?
I can't speak to the current models, but the two sets I had on my excursions changing from 1 to 9 was VERY noticeable...
How many that tout one as the "best" have had both to compare ? probably no one so not sure how they compare the two...
since I'm one of them, I can only say that I am ready to order the 9000's for my 2012 f-250
Note: there is NO association between the stock fx4 shocks and the 9000's - as stated many times the stock ones were ordered a certain way by ford !

Where are you going to order from?Ive seen a few sites noted on here where guys had problems with their order.. I might wait to see if rancho offers another 100 dollar rebate like they did in june...
what is the main difference between the stock shocks (got F250 with FX4) and the Bilsteens
Thanks
Someone else can explain what the diff is but I read the fx4 shocks are the exact same shocks in my non fx4 model but have a rancho sticker on them.If you search you will find that they are garbage from other users on here.
This question has been asked a lot and answered a lot. So it tends to bring out the do a search comments. This thread is the best in my opinion. The stock FX4 Motorcraft stamped Rancho branded shocks SUCK. No rebound, leaking, craptastic shocks in general usually from new. Just my opinion of course...
Has anyone bought the ranchos lately? If so where?I called truckaddons yesterday and inquired about them.I had the part numbers per ranchos site but the guy there said he was showing a diff part number for the rears,so I didnt order. Can someone tell me if there are two part numbers that will work for the rears in a non lifted stock hieght 2011 f350?
