My drivers side headlight cover appears to have had a stickers on it for a while (before I got it), There is an adhesive residue left on it. I tried cleaning it with rubbing alcohol, and tonight with Barkeepers Friend. It may have softened it a bit but there is a lot left.
Any suggestions for removal without damage to the cover.

Rubbing alcohol is about 10% concentrate, you might try denatured alcohol (no oil & 100% alcohol) and available at any hardware/paint store. next option would be 3M adhesive remover, it is typically available at all hardwrae stores and any auto paint supplier, but I would give 3M a call 1st to verify it will not do harm te the lense- I know it will not hurt paint, but the poly, check to make sure
The one guy said it, I always use goof off it removes everything, i used it in new construction removed stuff off windows stuff out of carpets ect, you can get a small can for a few bucks, also my wife takes those fake nails off with acetone, that might work too.
If the GooGone doesn't work...then try a touch of heat. Like that from a hairdryer or a heat gun on low. Don't focus the heat too much in one spot for fear of damaging the lens but a little touch of heat should soften the adhesive.
That is some bad azz stuff. The goof off seemed to soften it some but I have never seen adhesive residue that wouldn't come off with that or spray on choke/carb cleaner.
It is a problem when you get something that someone else did prior to you being the owner.
I'm thinking that I will keep my eyes out on Craigslist & Evilbay and replace it if I can catch a good buy.

If you cannot find anything local to you, let me know. I have a set of standard OEM takeoffs from my '06 up in my attic. Send me a PM if you want to discuss.
a buddy of mine said try some toothpaste. he said they use that to clean the headlight lens you just have to put some polish on it to make sure it does not fade so quick. you can google toothpaste on headlights.SP
I don't doubt it, but this blemish is as hard as Chineez rithmatric. Soaking it with Goof Off, & spraying it with choke & carb cleaner doesn't budge it.
I must have misjudged what it was. It looked like a sticker had been placed there that had stayed on for a month or so and when pulled off it left a track behind. I was surprised when the alcohol didn't get part of it.
