how do the snaps stay on the board? do they go threw? might be a stupid question but I am not grasping this right now. Maybe once I have the snaps all will be revealed. lol
The male part of the snap screws on to the board. The screw is shorter than the thickness of the board so it doesn't go through. I can say they have held up very well since installing them 3 years ago!
I like expedition seat back install that you did, bit I am struggling with visualization of the install.
Once you cut out the "dimple" how does the rest of the install go? What are the connections to the back of the seat?
The steps I took to do this:
1. Slid carpet off the plastic. It will have some glue at the bottom you will peel back and there will be velcro in the bottom corners
2. Cut the dimple which is meant for the clip
3. Put the carpet back on and cut around the dimple edge (do on both sides)
4. The clip will press together. It is two pieces and sandwiches together around the plastic. When going to a wrecker, a flat head screw driver will pop it apart. If you get a clip and it is the wrong colour for your interior, the clip that has the button on it will pop apart as well leaving you with the green button and a spring.
5. On the back of the seat is the grabbing plate (for lack of better words) and it is held to the seat with 2 wood screws. For locating the grabbing plate, I clipped the plate to the backing board, pushed the board towards the seat, then released the grabbing plate, giving me the location of where to mount it. The first seat took me an hour to do (mostly because it was exploration, trail and error) and the second clip took me 20 mins. Most of the time was cutting the plastic and the carpet and trying to keep things pretty.
With the clip in I was able to get rid of the stupid velcro strip. A razor blade was able to slice the stitches holding the material to the back of the seat. The passenger side had a screw mounted on the strap as well, so watch for that.
Thanks Jimbo, but I tried and tried to find these clips in a junk yard and could not find them. I waited for a long time for some to show up and I could not find where to order them online.
So I did the quick and easy Snaps bought them for $5 dollars at Home Depot done in 20mins. I look at it this way the Snaps are easy and when I run across some clips then I can replace the Snaps.
I think I found the part number to be F75Z-78624A14-AAA if you want to buy the part brand new from Ford. I havn't been able to confirm if it is the whole kit or just a part. Happy to have anyone chime in if they have the resource to look it up.

I'm all for helping out our fellow EX owners...but there's no reason for you to resurrect every single one of these old threads you came across.
