Well, I finally decided to go for the FlowMaster...I went to the local muffler shop and had a 3 chamber, Flowmaster 40 put on, with a 3 inch stainless tip..

I really like the sound, especially in the lower RPM range. There is definitely a low rumble in the cab, and I'm just waiting to see if my wife notices...

Only one problem!!! When they cut the factory muffler off, they had to put a 3 inch piece of pipe in place, due to the FM being shorter than the stock muffler. When the installation was complete, I noticed that the tailpipe was much closer to the spare than before, about an inch from it. I asked about it, and they assured me it wasn't a problem.

Well, after driving a few miles down the road, I got out of the truck, and smelled burning rubber. After looking at the spare, I see a small spot (about the size of a quarter), where it looks like the tailpipe might be touching. I also noticed that the hanger on the tailpipe is angled towards the rear of the truck, which makes me think the extension they put on is too long, and the just pushed the tailpipe back to make room.

Needless to say, I'm going back in the morning, and they WILL fix it. I'm also going to check out the spare, and determine whether or not they need to purchase a new one.

I'm sure it will all work out, but I just wanted to let everyone else that is looking in to replacing their exhaust, to be on alert for something like this. I remember a post from a few months ago where a spare tire actually caught fire from being too close to the exhaust...

Anyways...I'll keep ya posted, and take pics after it's finished...

 

UPDATE!!

I took the truck in this morning and had them take a look at it. They agreed with my assessment, cut the extension down by about 2 inches, and reattached. I've now got about 3-4 inches between the spare and the tailpipe.

Luckily, no damage to the spare...

Really like the sound, and the look of the stainless tip. Instead of the pipe exiting at a 90 degree angle, it actually points slightly towards the rear, about a 45 degree angle...Looks great!!!

I added a couple of pics of the exhaust in my gallery, but they didn't come out real well...I plan on taking all new pics of the truck and mods this weekend, and I'll update my gallery as soon as possible..
