56 F250, 4.9L, stock front axle, stock rear axle(subject to change), Daily Driver, occasional trailer pulling, keeping the stock brake pedal location
So far I am going with this for the front kit Ford F2 & F3
and leaving the rear drums, on what ever rear end i end up with.
The master cylinder is stumping me right know, I'm trying now to just buy the shiniest thing out there, I've read about the mustang MC but does that have the strength to stop? can I rebuild the stock MC and add a booster? can i yank one from a earlier F250 and rebuild it? here is another one i found, would it work? Wilwood Tandem Remote Master Cylinder - Speedway Motors, America's Oldest Speed Shop
also ECI carries just the brackets to mount the MC in the stock location, but not for the 56, all they have is 48-52 and 57-62.
Sorry about another brake thread, but after days of research these are the questions i could not find the answer to.
Is my understanding correct that those rotors are non-production, custom designed to fit over the stock 3/4 ton front hub? Do you know anything about the calipers that go with them? I would suggest talking with the distributor of the calipers and get a m/c recommendation from them. They should know what you need to use that would work correctly with their parts, and not guess on something that important. The last thing I would try to use is the stock m/c on a custom setup like that.
First the mustang m/c has stopped my truck for over 20 years so that story is BS and two I mounted mine using the mounting kit from No Limit Engineering in San Bernadino on my 55 and am using the stock pedal. Hope that helps
And I agree with Wayne, no factory 56 master, single reservoir (very unsafe) and not designed for disc brakes.
Looking a little further on the disc brake setup he referenced, under assembly instructions they say you need 79-87 1/2 ton Ch*** 4x4 front calipers. I would assume these are larger than Mustang calipers.
I believe the question would then be what master cylinder would be compatible.
