fuel gauge problem

fuel gauge problem

I have an F-150 1992 with duel tanks. On the front tank the fuel gauge pins all the way to the right. On the rear tank it works properly. The front tank pump works fine. Any ideas?

tested all the wires from the tank switch to the tank connector and there was continuity everywhere it should be. measured across the two terminals on the fuel pump that went to the sensor. no continuity. Thought oh well, i have a bad sensor in the tank. put everything back together and then went and got my leather mallet. Turned on the key and commenced to beat on the top of the fuel pump. Not much left to do short of pulling the tank and pump. To my surprise, that solved the problem. Something must have just been hanging up. Not a very technical fix but it worked. My dad used to say "when all else fails, get a bigger hammer". I did have a bigger hammer but didn't need it.
