Help picking tires

Hi,

I am debating on to up grade my 235/75/15 to 265/75/15. What are the advantages to upgrading? The tires are going on a 1994 F150 longbox 4x4 with a 5.0, automatic, and with 3.55 gears.

I mostly drive my truck back and forth to work 10 miles one way city and highway. With a occasional rough dirt road of 20 miles. I want something that is a all-terrain to handle rough roads. I am usually out before the plows are out in the winter so something that will handle deep snow and or slush.

I am looking at either the Cooper AT3 or the General Grabber AT2. Any advantages over one over the other? Or are there any other better choices?

Thanks, Kelly

Well there are these, which I have and are rated for snow use. About the same price as the two you listed:

Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac. Mine are 33x12.5x15 but they make them in 235/75R15 and 31x10.5x15. Heres a link:Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac

Try tirerack.com ... they have a lot of reviews and ratings system to help find the right tire for your needs.

Never used any of the tires you listed, always ran BFG A/T's on my trucks and Jeeps. They have done great in everything we have around here. We don't get a whole lot of snow, but I have driven them in up to 10 inches of it with no problem. They are more expensive than some of the others but there is a reason for that, they last.

I think the Coopers wear out quick and the Generals ride bad. I wouldnt do either.

my vote goes to the Duratrac's as well. I run them in the 285/75r16 size on my 95 f150. I LOVE these tires. They are an aggressive/all-terrain tread. I have heard very good things about Cooper discoverer ST's and STT's as well. We also have the General grabber AT2's on a 97 f250 at work, and they have been very good tires. That truck gets used daily as a parts runner/mail picker-upper/errand runner, and as a snow plow truck in the winter.
