What is the best set of headers for a 351/m?
I want more top end horsepower, (the engine has more than enough torque)
Is there anyone that has bought headers for a 351m for the same application got more top end power?
If so, what brand worked best?
I was told on this site that my headers from a 351 cleveland wouldn't fit in my truck, I haven't tried them yet though.
Also, are headers worth the money over stock manifolds?
I plan on fabricating a 3 inch dual exhuast, would headers even help if the 3inch exhaust were added to the stock manifolds?
Should I bother with headers?
or
Is there a cheaper way to gain the effects of headers?
oh just in case I'm asked, my truck is a 1978 F150 custom.
any advice is greatly appreciated thanks,

While headers for a 2V Cleveland will bolt to the heads they may not fit in the vehicle. The 351M is about an inch taller than the Cleveland which shifts the outlet position. There are many items in the truck that need to be "snaked" around by the pipes in order to fit.
I got a 77 with a 78 cab and just put new headers on it. I'm not sure what the headers that were on it came from ( rusted out the pipes on the driver's side) but they went between the frame and the front driveshaft. The new ones I got from Advance Auto run between the oil pan and front driveshaft. Don't care much for that. But headers are much improved over stock mainfolds except that headers are made thinner. I know several people will probably say Not So to that, but they are. I've seen several sets of headers rust out but not a set os stock mainifolds. But headers are truly that way to go. Just my 2 cents.
Headers must be fitted to both the engine and the body of the vehicle. If you get them to fit your vehicle and engine you should be OK. Sometimes starters, tranny and 4x4s are different.
4V headers won't fit your truck or be a good match for your heads even if they bolt up to the heads.
Good points: Better HP and mpg
You can uncap them!
Bad points: Might cause vapor lock
Might give you exhaust valve noise through the thinner metal.
Could cause exhaust leaks at the head or collector if not correctly installed.
