This is prolly a 1 page thread at most
Yesterday had no medical appts so it was spent trying to get some info from the Vet, but they were closed until 1300. We have a cat that doesn't like the Pet Carrier. We are going to be gone from Alpha Compound for too long a period to leave her here. Our efforts to acclimate her to the carrier have been for naught. Food, treats, catnip haven't worked. Thought I'd check with the Vet and see if they had a light sedative we could try. I'm aftraid she is going to stroke out or the Red Cross is going to run out of blood for my transfusionas. If the Vet doesn't / provide any good ideas I think I'm going to have to try a little Benadryl before we crate her up on Sunday. She likes being at the Log House much better than here, but the getting her from one place to the other is a killer.
Got a few other errands done, battled with the cable company over what to me was a crazy raise in prices. Essentially told them since we were internet only, it would be cheaper for us go with Star Link, have better latency and faster speeds than what they were providing. It was rather interesting at how fast they "change things around" so I had faster speed and kept the same price as before.
Got some rifles ready for hunting. Not much to do with them. Same ammo, same zero's, two rounds for confirmation and good to go. One rifle, a Rem M700 in 270, has an old scope on it that is becoming a problem. It's old and is now lokking like you are looking through a light fog. It's like a coating of dust on the lens, but there is no dust. I have two really nice scopes here that I won in shooting matches so I'll put one of them on the 270. I was saving one of them for the 300 Win Mag., but it doesn't need it so I think that is the one I will put on the 270. I'll have to make time on Friday to get back to the range and get that one zeroed.
We drew some special tags fro over in the Hells Canyon and Joseph Canyon area this year. Long drive - about 7 hours non-stop, 25 miles north of Enterprise, Or. A couple of our group are having problems with fuel prices. They got burned out in the Echo Mountain Wild Fire and are still in the rebuild, recovery stage. One of them, my regular hunting / fishing partner, will ride with me and be a relief driver, which is a good thing. A couple of them have firepower problems with a hunt of this nature, so I'm working up a couple of my 06's and the 270 for them to borrow. Should be a fun time. Unless we shoot animals in the first days, the Mule Deer and White Tail hunts are 17 days long. Then we have a 10 day break and then go into an elk hunt. We'll be camping for a month right on the rim of Joseph Canyon for a month, if plans hold.
While in the land of flat, being over the border, if you consumed Bud Light, we don't need to know and no one needs to see the video or pictures.
This weekend, have some good beer to get your reputation back.
Bruce....
I was pushing the truck so I could make it home today, about noon my boss called and needed me to stop in Las Vegas and ship him the spill kit. By the time I found a ups store I could get into and get out of I killed about 2 hours ( didn't help that my gps thought a shortcut through Nellis airforce base was a good idea) that killed 20 minutes waiting for an escort to get turned around.
when I finally got it shipped I got back in my truck in pouring rain and hail, local flooding, roads closed highway stopped, I couldn't get out of the parking lot.
3 hours later it took me 20 minutes to get 6 miles to a hotel.
my legal duty time expired so I am stuck here for the night.
on top of that I am supposed to get a hazmat permit to drive in Nevada, I called the number and left a message, still haven't got a response.
I am leaving when I wake up so probably won't get a permit. I will be almost home by 0800 if they decide to call me.
I'll be knocking off at noon today to go get the lil wagon hooked up and head North with the toy and doggos aboard. Wifey and I are ready for a 3.5 day weekend! I'll be consuming plenty of Spotted Cow's and she will no doubt have a least 1 Miller Lite possibly 2 if she gets really crazy. Mark called to ask if I was a Scotch drinker. I told him I'm not man enough to drink that stuff. He claimed he wasn't either. So I tol him to leave that home until we go to WV in the Spring. We can have Steve (bowtie) drink it. He's man enough. He agreed.
Y'all be careful and enjoy your weekend!
Have a great day everyone!!
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
Bart, Sounds like a hell of a trip especially the part about finding the UPS store, that and the GPS taking the short cut through Nellis Airforce base.
Andre, Have fun camping and riding!
Have a great day everyone!!

The 450 has been great. I do daily drive the 450 as the wife doesn't let my wingman into the brick on wheels, er I mean Heep, er I mean Jeep. I also do not let him in the orange car. So the 450 it is. The back seat is very well protected. See the pics of seat the seat cover. They are the best I've had and this is my third set since getting Jack. The previous versions (2) were crap. This one is about 3 months old and looks like new yet. I bought them off amazon. If anyone wants the link, let me know. I'll find it.
The truck itself is doing well. I love it. The turning radius I think makes up for a lot of maneuverability challenges that may pr may not have had adjusting from a SRW to a DRW. Sure there are times it's just a big truck to move around. There have been a few times I've taken a different vehicle based on it's size, but that is a luxury that I have and I'll take it if it's easier.
The truck is tuned up by Edge/Holley and I leave it on 2 towing and 5 when not towing. Level 2 is nice as the shift points are nicer and throttle response (tuner incorporates the same capability of a pedal monster of similar) from the tune. I think Level 2 is only like 20 BHP so it's not a big deal. Tune 5 is 65 BHP on my truck, but I think that's different from what comes from Edge. They did some custom stuff on my truck and I don't think they remember I have it. I love the extra power and I'm not worried about it. Emissions are 100% intact and wording as they should. I have 12,500 miles on the truck with about 5500 miles towing. Mostly the camper, but a few towing various other trailers (cargo trailer and the new dump trailer). Towing is exceptional. The Toyo's that I put on it are an improvement in every way except noise. They are load as heck, but I expected it. I need the traction up here. The truck gets a lot of compliments and I'm not going to pretend I don't like hearing them. On board air is not something I'd give up, but I would do again. The 450 is a beast and I love it.

I'm at the Warren Bridge Campground, north of Pinedale, Wyoming. I had planned to get here early enough to go for a bike ride or a drive in the ATV. But the wind is blowing like a ****, it's threatening to rain (or snow?) and it's only 50 degrees. The truck is still connected to the trailer and the ATV is still in the trailer. It rained most of last night so the ATV was quite wet when I loaded it into the toy hauler. I'm going to have a mess on the floor to clean up. Since I'm stuck in the trailer I cleaned up the bathroom and the kitchen.
My wife will meet me tomorrow at Pearl Lake State Park, north of Steamboat Springs, for three nights. Google wants to send me down a dirt road as the most direct route. I don't think so. The street view of what little is available makes it look like a road with a lot of potholes.
