I'm one that would find that restriction attractive. I'm recovering from throat cancer. Smoke from a campfire is not a pleasant experience for me. I understand the almost ceremonial nature of a campfire. We had one almost every campout in Boy Scouts. It's like a right of passage. But when the campfire gets started, I'm out of there.

Good morning, crew! And a special good morning to all Dads out there! I got a pretty special phone call this morning from an “adopted” family in Idaho. Won’t go into details.....too personal.
Anyway, enough sentimental stuff.
Yesterday, being a very nice day......mid 80’s, breeze blowing, etc. myself and a couple other guys went for a short ride over to Red Lake; a dry lake bed just to the east of us about 10-15 miles and straight north of the old Kingman Army Airfield. Anyway, we just go out there oncein a while to look around to see what we can find, since the dry lake bed was one of the places the Army Air Corps was using as a gunnery range.
This is what I found just looking around for about 15 - 20 minutes. Some days a person will find nothing and other days the stuff just like it pops out of the ground!

Hope all have a great rest of the day. Later

That's a pretty cool score there Don! Looks like one live round too. Is that all 30 cal stuff from WWII aircraft, or 50 cal? (The "live" round doesn't look very big compared to the other projectiles)
Gerry, I didn't realize you still had school. Too bad management is still worthless. Can yo move to another park, or is it bad enough to worry about it?
Howdy Andre!

And over time, I have collected about a 5 qt ice cream pail full of the .50 cal projectiles.

Good afternoon all. Happy Father's day to all the Dad's.
Been out traveling around and busy with projects. Got a fence built and we're now trying to get a couple of other things taken care of before we take off for Diamond Lake in about 12 days.
Had a rifle/pistol and black powder match yesterday. Went pretty well. Ended up getting aced out of the top shot spot by 2 points, but did win several individual events that paid back the entry fees. 2nd place overall in points wasn't too bad. 2nd place "trophy" was an $1100 rifle scope (just found it on sale at one place for $750 - out of stock), 4.5-20X50 that was donated to the cause by the owner of a Security type company best described as a "Blackwater" junior. He's also the person who beat me by 2 points. We had been shooting together and practicing the day before the match and we were spotting some long range shots for each other. He told me he had donated an expensive scope and a second scope of a lesser value, but still pretty spendy, for second and third place prizes for the Overall Cumulative Score prizes and it made a good tax write off. I asked him why he didn't specify that they had to be used for first and second? His response was that he was going to win the match and didn't want to win what he had donated to the cause. He arrogant **** was right! Beat me out by 2 points. A young man and a friend of mine got 3rd place and the 'lesser' scope. He was pretty happy. Said he had never had a scope that was over 9 power before. The scope he won was a 3-12X50.
100 yard off hand competition. Most were using the 30 cals and I had my Garand there to use as well, but changed my mind. This is Al here with his M1A.
This is Rob with his M1 Garand.
Opted to use my Colt AR15SP1 instead and it paid off as this was one of the events I won.
22 Rimfire competition using my Olympic Competition Pistol
Lonnnnnnnnnng Range Competition from the bench, no spotters allowed. Using my S&W M&P 10 LE model. This was one of the individual events I won.
Some of the long guns I brought to the competition.
Short gun competition using a 2 1/2" S&W M19.
Our local town annual celebration is going on this weekend. We got home from the match just before they blocked the road for the Grand Parade. We had just enough time to get our 'director' style camp chairs off of the back of the camper and set up in the driveway for the Parade. This is 'General Phil Sheridan' (towns namesake) leading off the Parade. Sheridan was a young Lt. when he first was stationed here. My GGG grandfather Turner provided him a room (and acted as an interpreter for a time) )in his house until they got the "O" quarters built at the Fort. It's too bad the local tribe began refusing to participate in the area celebration a number of years back because we wouldn't change the name of the town or the annual celebration.

It was a wonderful Father's Day weekend!
We started off going to an Eagle Scout project for another one of my Scouts. This was only part of the project, but he is building an Autistic sensor room for the therapy office that his mother works. Here the boys are making tactile sensory boards.
Then when we got home we got to work on the ceiling in the sitting room. We knew we could not match the color so we went different. It's not perfect, but we like how it turned out. So nice to have it done!
The sun is washing out the tunnels, but they are all trimmed out in cedar T&G plank as well.
