After reading the FAQ, I understand that all of the performace chips offer more horsepower and more torque. They also offer better and firmer shift points.
My question, is there a way to get the improvements of the shifting with the changes to the engine programming? My main reason for asking is that I feel I have plenty of power in the engine and do not want to pay more for higher octane gasoline (because most chips require higher octane gas), but the shifting of the transmission has much to be desired.
Thank you, sorry if this is addressed in the FAQ, but I did not see it.
I believe that you can get just a shift improver kit from a tranny company like B&M or any other reputable tranny shop. B&M is very well known and has been around forever.

I believe that you should be able to get a shift improver kit from any reptuable transmission company. I think B&M would be a good place to start. They have been around forever and have a long reptution for perfomance transmission upgrades.
I'm sure I'll be corrected if I'm wrong on this, but I was told the tranny can "learn" your shifting preferrences. If you drive relativley easily, that's the way the trans shifts. If you drive harder, the trans will shift harder.
Wouldn't it just be as easy to disconnect the battery and "re-train" the transmission.
On another note: I had an "RV" shift kit installed in my old '95 F250 for a more solid shift pattern. Cost about $300CDN.
