Can't help you with the Ubuntu but in FF you can do the following:
1) Click on the blue "Post Reply" button on the lower left corner toward the bottom of the page.
2) When the reply window opens, click on the little yellow button that looks like a mountain in the row of buttons along the top of the page.
3) You'll get a pop-up that asks you to enter the URL of the picture.
4) Go to the Image Shack account and select the photo you want to post.
5) Right click in the photo you want to post and select "View Image Info".
6) When the image info pane opens, copy the URL from where it says "Location".
7) Go back to the Reply window on FTE and paste the URL in the pop-up window where it asks for the URL of the photo. Then click "OK".
8) Click "Preview Post" to check to see if the image is posted and is visible.
After that, it should post fine. Try it and let me know if you're still having problems. You can also look at this tutorial by an FTE member detailing how to post pictures on FTE:
