C6 problem
Lately the c6 in my bronco (200,000 mi) has been taking a long time to engage into drive. When shifted into reverse, it will engage almost instantly, but it is always slow when engaged into Drive. Sometimes it will take 30 seconds or more. I serviced my tranny about 10,000 miles ago. Does any one have any clue what could be causing this and how it can be fixed?

C6 problem
perryphilip, Your clutches and bands are fried, your C6 is in need of an overhaul. Reverse still works because it is the least use clutch pack in an automatic transmission. You are lucky though, your C6 should cost around $400 to rebuild, if it had been an AOD it would cost around $1600. No amount of flushing or additives will make your transmission work for very long. I sorta figured it was my foward clutch pack, but I was hoping for the best. The strange thing is now that my bronco has been sitting for 2 months, when I cranked it up, the tranny engaged almost instantly. Would now be a good time to do a tranny service since all the crud is probably settled in the bottom of the pan? I already have a manual to rebuild the tranny, and I plan to do it this summer. Is that video about rebuilding the c6 worth it? Who makes the best rebuild kit?

Perryphillip, I have had good luck with www.bulkparts.com for their rebuild kits, about 25% cheaper than the local transmission parts shop. You may still want to find a local transmission parts store, some hard parts are easier to match face to face.
I have never seen any of the videos available, I took a course at a local Vo-tech toget started. Good luck
