I'm thinking about putting the 3"summit dual exhaust system on my 90 F150 300 XLT Lariot. Its cheap, I've seen other people say good things about it and was wanting to hear more. I plan on cutting off both cats and getting a new Y pipe for the exhaust manifold and running the system behind that. What pros and cons do you guys have. Also what should i do about my air filter since i'll need more air flow. I was thinking about taking out the stock air box and putting a K&N cone filter on the end of the stock hoses. A big one. would this help or is there other options? also posted in Exhaust forum.
What if i just went with straight pipes right out the back behind my Y. no cats no muffler. What would that do for me. See my main goal is to get a nice tone and maybe increase the horsies and MPG if possible. Any suggestions whats cheap and best?
i once had a 94 f-150 300 staight 6. i had my exhaust completely re-dun. the front the pistons come down on a separate manifold than the back 3, then go into a y-pipe. cut that y pipe off along with everything else. then u got two pipes to work with. i put one turbo muffler on each pipe. sounded almost like a v-8. turbo mufflers are cheaper than flowmasters, and louder. my fuel mileage came up and the gear ratio seemed taller...about the k&n filter, i replaced my stock one with a k&n for 40 bucks and it brought my fuel mileage up too. good luck man
