'86 F250 inquiry
I am looking at buying a 86 F250, 119k on the 6.9, and 100 miles on new e4od, 2wd. What is the likely hood that the rear axle has 3.55 gears instead of 4.10? When I go to look at it tomorrow, where would I find the axle code? And what would the codes be for each gearing?

Driver's door jamb will be a data card similar to any other old ford. AX is the axle. Not sure on the odds. Not a lot of consensus between any of the trucks here on options. Ford went nuts with what you could and couldn't order.
Don't have the truck codes in my head. But google Ford door card decoders. I believe this site has a utility that will decode a card and lists the axle codes for trucks.
