Ok, so this is probably a dumb idea, but what do you 73-79 guys think? While watching Monster Garage, I was thinking about how much of a pain it is to open the rear window in my CrewCab. (Ultra Lazy).
Think it would be too dumb/too wasteful/not workable to use actuators to open and close it?
Clearly, it is just and idea...a dumb one at that...but it is fun to brainstorm. Anyone have any thoughts, comments, etc.?
I really just want an excuse to play with tools. : )
Why waste time in designing a complecated actuator system you describe, just go to www.powerslider.com and get an electric unit, these are a little expensive, but are very good quality.
They have an install article at http://www.truckingtimes.com/install...owerSlider.pdf and a quick look around different sites showed a price of $350 - $400US for the window. That's for a F150 '73-'96. Not cheap but with an extended cab or larger it would be nice.
John.
I have one in a 1977 F-250 supercab that I bought a few months ago. At first I thought it was unnecessary. However, since then I have changed my mind. It works great and I can open and close it without having to stop the truck to reach it. In a crew cab I think you would like it if you have the time and money. I don't know what model or make the unit is I have, but its fun to show off.

I had a powerslider installed on my '79 Supercab, and it's great. I got mine installed, with a new gasket, for $272 at Safelite. I had to bolt down the motor, run the wiring, and install the switch......but it is worth it.
