Hey all. I am still thinking about my exhaust...I wanted to know if anyone has any experience with strait pipes. My dad had them on his Corvette and he hates mufflers lol. Does anyone know where I could get the components to put dual strait pipes on my truck? Thanks for the help.

summit truckstyle and jcwhitney have just pipe kits. if you don't like the kit they also have miscellanious bends and stuff you could buy. also your local auto parts has lots of pipes. thats how I did my last custom exhaust was with there pipes. if they don't have what you need they can bend it.
I have a 79 that has mufflers and the exhaust drops after them (no cat's though just mufflers) I thought about hacking them off, I dont want to spend the $ for cherry bombs but I might.
How loud is it going to be with no mufflers? I have a cracked header atm (right before the collector) about double that loud?
You also have to think about resale value when altering something like this. What if someone out of your state buys your truck down the line, and has to replace the whole system due to emissions? What if your uncle for some reason cant get you that sticker he said he could? If I were you, I would keep it legal. You can get the same gains from legal headers, high flow Y pipe with cats, and catback. All single. I guess you could run fake duals from the cat back. Personally, I would rather not chance it and do it legal the first time, than have to fix something later. Just an idea though.
if you have to have muffers
buy some 12 inch glasspak ($20) for JC Whitney
my friend (85 f150 351W catback) exhayst is loud
it pops when he lets off the gas

oh man this guy has a 79 f-150 with a 460 hes got those straight pipes on it i swear you can barely hear yourself think when he flies past in second (4 speed tranny)
If you don't have Mufflers on you Pipes you have to watch the heat, it could throw off your engine in the long run. I would recomend some turbo mufflers they are cheap ($15-$40) and sound great! Glass packs are fine to i Have Cherry Bombs's on my truck now they work fine, but would rather have turbo mufflers.
There is no reason you cant slap str8's on yourself, just go to the nearest hardware store, buy 30 ft. of pipe and then go find yourself two big chrome tips and weld it on, i put mine on in like 1/2 hour and it was fine, never hurt my ride at all.
