2 month old f250 lariat fx4. Drove today from Dallas to ouray, CO. At 75 it starts to shutter like a wheel is out of balance. Stopped at the ford house and it was off so they fixed it. Back on the road for final leg and it starts all over again. Psi on tires is at 60 and I'm towing a motorcycle trailer, enclosed 7x14 tandem, with two motorcycles. Any ideas? I have the pro comp dual steering stabilizer. Was thinking too much front tire pressure????
Stock tire size? If its the stock tires I would have the dealer road force balance the tires to make sure the tires are good. May have a out of round tire or tread separation.
well I made it the entire 1800 miles with trailer in tow. The Ford house gets her tomorrow to check things out. I will say that my mileage was 15 mph pulling a tandem axle trailer with an approximate weight of 6,000 lbs. The truck doesn't yet have 4,000 miles so I think it was pretty good. My one complaint is the engine braking.......SUCKS.
UPDATE:
Took the truck in at 7 am. The tech said they'd jump right on it. 3 p.m., rolls around and I'm wondering WTF????? I call at 4 and he said that everything is normal. I asked what they did and they "balanced" the tires and check alignment. I told him and the service manager that it's been done by Albuquerque Ford while on my trip. WTF are they thinking? I told them twice and the tech also said he can't replicate the problem.......duh, I was pulling a loaded trailer which I explained three times. Needless to say he didn't get approval to do the road force balance until 5 so it's too late. I'm livid and plan on filing a complaint for their lack of communication, ****ty attitudes and moreover the lack of "listen to your customers" first. According to the manager FORD will not warranty a road force balance. Any suggestions to get this resolved in another manner? I'm just about to go to the other FORD house. Sick of their inept attitude and total disregard for my concerns. Worse part is that the 2013 explorer we just bought now has voice control issues. I'm starting to regret this decision to sell the Benz where service was their number 1 priority, even if it meant calling and saying we haven't had time to look at it. Someone chime in please.
Thanks.
