My 03 f250 5.4l 66,000 miles, just started running bad on my way home from work today. As soon as I started it I noticed the whole truck vibrating more than usual while idling, decrease in power and sometimes the power will kick in and out. We had a heavy down pour of rain today and was thinking maybe the cop's got wet?
can a heavy rain get into the engine just sitting in the parking lot?
there's no check engine light on.
I did a quick check on cylinders 1 and 5, pulled the cop's, checked the boots for tears and water and it all looked good.
I realize I need to check the other cylinders, but I wanted to get on here and see if you guys think Im looking in the right place before I did all of them.. Thanks!!!!
When were the plugs changed? You might have a bad COP. Wich is what it sounds like. When they develop very small hairline cracks moisture will work its way in there. Do you have any codes/check engine light?
I replaced all my coil boots and springs and I still had a miss. I pulled the coils and realized that five of my ten coils had cracks in the bodies. I recommend pulling the coils and thoroughly inspecting them.
Here is a pic
You can buy an 8 pack of coil boots and springs on eBay for about $20.00.
thanks for the pic jerem0621 now I know what to look for Ill have to take a closer look at them. The plugs are stock I believe Kdr358 and there isn't a check engine light on.

I guess Im gonna have to check them all out
Thanks for the help
Have the truck scanned for pending codes. It takes a lot of misfires, almost a dead cylinder, to light the CEL.
So I pulled out number 7 spark plug and I look at it and find that the plug is motorcraft but the thread portion of the plug is a larger diameter than the other two that ive pulled and the new ones that I just bought.........errrr
so does this mean the previous owner must have stripped it out or something and thats how you fix it?
I dont know where to go from here. can I get a plug like that?
the far left is the one that came out of #7 which was misfiring,
middle was from #1 which I pulled to see what was up with #7
and the right is the new set that I just bought
