Hutch mod kits

I know strictly diesel and Diesel Inovations make kits does anyone else make them? Anyone use the DI one? I know I could get the stuff to make one but would rather just buy a kit pre made than having to go to different stores to get the stuff. I wouldn't mind buying the strictly diesel one but that's alot of coin if I could buy it without the filter setup I would consider it. It does look like a nice kit tho. I'm guessing neither one is better than the other as far as the kit in the tank?

Whatever you decide I'd suggest ordering a new pickup umbrella from dieselorings. Most likely you'll find yours deteriorated beyond the point of reuse. When I installed the strictly kit a couple years ago I just used a length of hose in its place with a 45* cut on the end but would have preferred a replacement umbrella.

I used DI's kit, it was inexpensive and it will perform the task as well as any. My pick up foot was fine, but I used the new one anyway since I wanted to be prepared. What I wasn't prepared for was the absolute wrestling match of getting the tank back in...have a plan in advance on how you are going to hold it back in place while you fight the straps. Someone on here mentioned using some ratcheting ATV straps and that might work real well. Suck the remaining fuel out if you can, my fuel guage was below E and the overhead said 0 miles to empty and there was still 5 or 6 gallons remaining. Also mentioned was pulling the bed, which is what I would do next time (as long as you can get a few guys to help lift it off and set it down). If all your torx bolts will undo easily, definitley consider the bed removal route.
After completing this exhaustive marathon, I did not notice any difference on how the truck ran or sounded. I had done the Riffraf RX beforehand and there was a pleasing difference in overall quietness. One reason I probably didn't notice a big change was that I had done the prepump short hose years ago (and I did notice a little difference) thus, I was only getting 1/2 the effect as there are only 2 "pressure type" fittings between the tank and pump. I think the theory of leaking air pass these fittings is a sound one. I'm still not convinced it destroys injectors though; I've seen just too many high milage trucks on original injectors without these mods. Now that its done, I'm glad I did it, but I wouldn't do it again. Keep in mind that some have seen more difference with the tank mods than with the regulated return...so do it!

Good lord some of you must be old...

Tank going back in is not that tough at all, lay it on you guy, lift it into place, hold it with your knee and bolt it back in.

FWIW I find these type of straps to be more convenient to use and fine tune than ratchet straps for light-duty tasks like fuel tank lowering/raising/positioning:

You guys are trying to over think this.
Replace the foot with a short 3/8 brake line. Use a 5/16 brake line about 16" long for the return. Use 3/8 and 5/16 compression fittings to attach them. About 10' of 30R7 (or better) and a 33007 or 33972 wix diesel fuel filter. You will use about eight good quality hose clamps.

It cost me $50 in 2010.

Thanks for the advice I will order a pickup foot just incase. And I won't be pulling the bed when they did my spray in bed liner they covered the bolts. Dealing with the fuel tank shouldn't be to bad.

Does anyone have a link for the DI kit? I'm not sure if I'm looking at the right stuff on the site. Thanks.
