well, the 14.50s we very heavy and the wide ratios of our tranny really hurt it (huge load on the 1st to 2nd shift) when you put your foot into it. cruising around with a light throttle it was fine, getting on the freeway is when the tranny suffered. i really, really liked the larger tires but i like my trans better. i definitely prefer the larger tires, and if i ever do gears (currently 4.30s), i will go big.
FYI - towing 8K up the grapevine was not a problem for my rig, never a time when i could not accelerate. hope this helps.
