I also have a vast collection of used 48-52 parts. I may have the original front shock mounts. Speedway also sells reproductions.
I'd normally contact you off the board with parts for sale, but since you don't have the required 25 posts, you can PM or email me, modelking2000 at hotmail dot com, with a list of needed parts.
You guys are awesome! My email is styl_E_mon - yahoo
I'll start off by saying, I am looking for period correct. Orignal '49 parts would be great, but I don't want to break the bank, if the replacements are cheaper.
Here is the start of an endless list:
Running boards
Hood trim
F1 insignia on Pass side
Drive Shaft
Driver Floor boards
Door Handles
Hand Cranks for Windows
Window guides (I only have the glass)
Headlight Glass (I have dishes)
Radiator
Driver side vent glass
Back Window glass
Dash Speaker Vent/ Chrome
Inside part of the Glove Box
Tail Lights
Hood Hinges / Latch
OEM Radio
Have any of ya ever heard them called an L head motor? Back in the day when I was a kid and first got to work on the that is what everyone called them then. Again, what's up with that?. I have never heard that name used here.
Parts are interchangeable between 48-50 model years. Some parts are even interchangeable with 51-52 model years.
Your motor is a 239ci V8 flathead.
UNLESS, it is a Mercury with 4" crank which would make it a 255 incher. Are those heads marked Mercury? As stated, only way to tell if it is a Mercury is to measure crank.

Yes, you're correct. I forgot that in the first few posts discussion of the possible Merc engine in the truck was made.
BTW, just noticed that your truck appears to be missing the battery tray. It should be mounted on the right frame rail near the cab.
Greetings all, I just got a 49 F1 last month while home on R&R. It will be a year before I can start to restore her, but I still need manuals and advice.

The flathead motors were called "L" Blocks. Next came the "Y" blocks. Had to do with the shape I think.

You new guys shouldn't piggyback on someone elses' thread, start your own and introduce yourselves. You're much more likely to get a response, too.
