Alright, I've got a 92 F150 Flareside and the box behind the seat isn't cutting it anymore. I've found the sub that I want, but I need to build a box for it. My idea is to make a box/console. I have a bench seat and the box will just go in between the seat and the dash. My big problem right now is finding out how big it needs to be to accomodate the cu. ft. specs for the sub. Can anybody help me out?
Yep. I can certaintly give you dimensions as long as you tell me what your working with... Let me know the recommended cu^ft for the enclosure, and the dimensions of the area you have available, and i'll let u know.
go sub fire down, with about 2" spacers from the floor. build it to form to the tranny hump, cover it with matching carpet, add a few cup holdrs and ur good to go...
i did the calculations and with using 3/4" material u came up with about .5 cubic feet of air space, no where near what u needed.
I was asking for the depth of the sub cause I think some need a little space behind them. knowing how deep the sub is will help these guys know how high or wide to make the box. Since it's a pick up I'm assuming the only restriction your gonna have is in hieght and depth. If this is the case you can always just measure the sub. Again I'm not the box design expert but i will be a expert builder listening to these guys....lol I'm on my second box and dont even have my subs yet............
I'm going to do my best to figure out how deep the sub is tonight. I don't have it yet but I'm going to call best buy and see if they can pull one out and tell me how deep the sub actually is. Its' a Power Acoustik (FUBR series)12" Best Buy is asking an arm and a leg for the sub, but I found a website that I can get it for only $90.
ur Mounting Depth is: 9"....kinda big for a 12" sub. i would strongly suggest getting a different sub if u didnt already get that one that requires less space and smaller mounting depth...u can make it fit, but its gunna be tight.
Thanx for all your help guys, I think that I'm going to try a different sub. Can anybody recommend anything that sounds really good and can handle a LOT of power?
How much do u want to spend on the sub and are you willing to make your own box? If money is an issue factor about $50 to the cost of the sub if you make your own box cause a sheet of MDF will run you $16-20 plus glue, screws, sealant, carpet, carpet glue, etc. Unless you already have some supplies.
