I have a 1994 ford f-250 7.3L IDI and id like to know how to give it the power for truck pulls I go to and get it to blow a cloud of smoke when stomping on the accelerator
Injectors/Injection pump, proper timing, good turbo & exhaust, axle gearing. You have an auto or manual in it?
IDIs were built more for reliability than crazy power, but you can build a killer one for less than a stock used Cummins nowadays. Search around this site, there's a wealth of info at your fingertips.
And if you really want pulling power you should add lower gears and a cam to help it breath better so it will breath in more air and have a higher boost. So more fuel + addition of a turbo equals double horse power and torque
not exactly double....but yes i we all have seen Russ's(Type4) and Justin's(NMB2)'s camshafts break 210 rwhp....
Id disagree, Id say my truck is roughly double what a N/A truck makes, maybe a little shy, but right in there.... Just shows you that more fuel and air can do the job just fine....

Well your putting down 235 HP....the stock I believe was like 165 rwhp....I know the best I EVER got without a camshaft was 192 rwhp and 360 rwtq(would have to find the dyno) to be be exact, I put a wastegated banks turbo on there and thats what my 84 produced....granted my dad did all the driving of that thing when it had its turbo.....I went back to N/A when I lost the flywheel ring gear cause I was gonna put a Camshaft and whatnot into it...but that never came true because of the fact that I got T-Boned by a Chevy Cruze lol.
