98 3.0 no start condition
98 3.0 no start condition
Hey guys, it's been a while but I'm hoping you can help me out like you always have before. I'll start by explaining what happened and then what I have checked so far. The truck is a '98 XLT 4x4 with a non flex fuel 3.0 and an automatic transmission.
I was driving out in the country and my check gauge light came on. All of the gauges were right where they normally are. I stopped and shut the truck off and re-started it a few seconds later. I was in the middle of nowhere and everything still seemed fine so I decided to try to get home with the truck. As I was pulling up to a stop sign a few miles down the road, the truck stalled. I got out and checked the belt ect. everything looked fine so I got the truck towed home. Every time I would try to start it the solenoid would click, but the starter would not engage.
Since then I have tested the alternator, battery, starter, and wiring between the starter and battery. The alternator and starter have passed several bench tests at multiple parts places. The battery passes a load test just fine. The wiring has continuity. What else should I test? I'm kind of stumped and tired of riding my motorcycle through thunderstorms to get to work. I appreciate any advice you can give me. Thanks in advance
