The problem is the ground is already saturated what all the rain we've gotten in the past couple weeks. So add more rain and some wind and you're going to see a lot of trees going down, which means power outages.
Also, people often forget to fill up their rides prior to an approaching storm. Gas stations usually secure their pumps 24 hours before a hurricane is forecasted to strike. With potential power outages, you never know when they'll be back up after the storm. So fill up your tanks a day before the storm is forecasted to hit.
