engine serial numbes

The numbers I know of start with a letter then a number. The letter stands for the decade and the number the year. Example: C4AE (off my heads) is a 1964. The '70s is a D and '80s should be an E, ect. A number like this should be everywhere and on everything from the '60s and up, don't know if they where used earlier than that.

You may try the 302 forum as they are the ones whom specialize in this type of thing.

Block date codes are above the starter - you'll probably have to remove it to find the alpha-numeric string.
