i have a 79 f-150 and my exhust is a two into one pipe, the engine is a 390 and its manual (rebuild).truck started with a straight 6. my question is can i cut just under the cab wher there are two and put glasspacks or should i only use one at the back...and what length and maker should i use so i dont loose performance
thank you but what would i need to build one .... kinda new at this and my neighbor is just saying cut it u will be fine so now i no not to listen to him any advise u have will be great
youd need about 15 feet of aluminized tubing, and some elbows and such from your local parts store. welding capabilities are nice, but not necessarily required.
you COULD cut it off at the cab, but with such a short pipe, it would be very raspy and popping. long pipes after the muffler give the exhaust gasses time to smoothout and create a nicer tone.
thrush glasspacks are cheap, and as good as any other.
the only complication is that if your truck is 4WD, the transefer case will be in the way of split duals...
im going to build myself a dual 2-1/2 header back system with thrush glasspacks, i think it will sound great....
