Angry windshield wipers stopping?

I've had my 69 f 100 for about two weeks and never drove in the rain until the other day, flying down the highway my wipers just stopped in mid-stroke,then they started again for a few minutes, then stopped.

They work when they want to.

Why is this?

Do I need a new motor???

It's probably the brushes in the motor have worn out. Don't know if you can get just the brushes, so new motor might be your best bet.

My '72 F-100 wipers once had a brain of its own. Just replaced the switch. I figured the $10 switch needed to be replaced anyhow being it was almost 30 yrs old. Easier than tearing the wiper motor out. You might get lucky.

Yeah, that's a good thought. Check the switch by bypassing it, if still does it, it's not the switch.
