Has anyone used the 6 volt LED headlights on their F1? If so do they make a big difference with brightness? Where is a good place to purchase them? Thanks in advance....
Are you sure that you are looking for "LED" headlamps? Those are BIG bucks, I doubt that anyone on this forum has spent that kinda cash for headlights. A big improvement over the stock sealed beams are the quartz halogen headlamps, still pricey but well worth the added cost.
I've been meaning to buy a few of them. Have no idea how bright and improved the light emission will be. They are a little pricey if I want to outfit all of my vehicles with them.
Ilya, he's talking about headlights. I can't say I've seen 6v LED headlights anywhere.
Roger that. I just re-read the post. In my mind, I was thinking turn signals and tail lights. I also had my Airflow on my mind since it's a sealed beam design headlight that allows bulb replacement.
I have never seen or heard of 6V LED headlights. I have put up the cash for 6V halogen headlights. I have been very pleased with the halogens (my F-2 will soon get a pair of sealed beam 6V halogens).
I installed a pair of 6volt halogen headlights on my 55. They work much better than stock, but draw a lot of amps. You will need to make sure that your electrical system is working correctly or you'll drain the battery over several hours of use. Good luck, Jag
can someone tell me how much more draw the halogen lights ya'll are talking about pull over the original 6 volt bulbs, I'm thinking about making a change.
thanks
My generator is rated at 40 amps optimistically. I do not know what it actually supplies. I can run the halogen headlights on low beam and the system is capable of steadily charging the battery at about 6.8 volts. If I run the high beams then the voltage slowly drops toward 6.0 volts which tells me that my battery is having to suppliment the generator. So, I typically only run the low beams which is still a big improvement over the original lights. Jag
I run the Wagner 6V sealed beam halogens. I don't have a current problem with the high beams running down the road. At idle, yes, but I don't need high beams at idle.
I have a 36 car and the switch for the headlights is in the steering wheel. If the generator will handle the lights I wonder if the switch can handle the few extra amps the halogens will draw if I make the change?
