F800 ?

Hi, i just received a Ford F 800-900big job? I am trying to figure out exactly what model is.
The vin is not the original one...
The hood chrome tag says f900 big job.
Twin tires in the back ihydroulic brakes.
Can you help me to identify the model? May be by frame size or else thanks.

If the hood chrome says it's a F900, it almost certainly is. Though they use the same hood as the F100s, a F900 badge is not a common find. So unless it was replaced from another big job (which would be a rare thing to do), it should be the original.

Is the Vin plate missing on the drivers side door? There is also a Vin on the frame (I think it was on the passenger side by the engine, but someone will know for certain)

A whole lot can be figured out from pictures if you have them, plus we'd love to see them.

Are the back wheels dually (four tires on one axle) or two sets of duallys (two axles, 8 tires total) like a semi truck?

Do you know what year it is? It should be from '53-56.

To snag a couple pictures:
On the right is a '53, on the left a '54, the grilles are different, a '55 has a different looking one as well.

This is a '56 T-800 (notice the double sets of rear axles). The '56 is unique, notice the shape of the cab, the wrap around windshield with square side windows.

Now, pictures make it easier to figure out what it is as each year has something unique about it, especially the '56. However it's possible that this isn't for certain on the larger trucks. On the large ones they often used body parts from the previous year. I've seen a 1956 F700 that had a '55 cab on it, and it was factory. It makes it a little difficult to know for certain, but if you can find the vin on the chassis you'll know without a doubt. Course that is easier said than done, someone on here knows exactly where it's at and they'll be able to help you find it, often you need to remove a whole lot of dirt, grease and paint to find it, so it's best to know exactly where it's supposed to be.

Welcome to FTE by the way

Thank you so much for your prompt answer.
As you probably figure out I don't know much about these trucks.

There are no vin plates. It was use as a farm truck and to avoid years of unpayed registration, it was register with a different vin number of some sort...
to avoid past due bills.

Anyway, I look on door and frame and no luck. I am pretty sure is a 56 with a 272 engine and the wrap around windshield. I have some pics and as soon as I can figure out how to attach them to the post I will do so.

The tires are dually (total of 6 tires). It has no scoop on the hood and it has 3 plus one low-gear near the reverse.

The gas -tank (I don't know) if original is behind the seat in the cabin.
Again, as soon as I figure out how to attach some pics....
Thanks, Stephen

Whole lot to learn on these trucks, but you're in the right place for it! Thankfully places like this exist and parts are being reproduced, otherwise most of these trucks would rot away.

The gas tanks on the '56 are in the cab, only year I think. The vin on the chaissis is a real pain to find, pretty much under the cab and facing up if I recall. I still haven't found mine, lol.

Most of the larger trucks had one set of duallys, on the "T" models had the doubles if I remember right (t-750,t-800). They are quite rare though ironically there use to be one 3 blocks from my house!

For pictures try using photobucket.com . Then use the "IMG" code on the bottom of the picture after it's been uploaded. Or you can upload them in your "garage", it's under your profile section. (click your name up at the top right where it says, "Welcome, riki1", on the right side of the page that follows is a tab marked "garage" and follow that)

Twin tires are called duals in truck lingo. Two axles in back are called tandems. Stephen is correct, a factory tandem would be a "T" model. As for the engine, I don't think you could get a 272 in an F800 or 900. The bigger series such as these had the Lincoln-based Y-blocks.
