solid axle for 1995 F150
Does anyone know if an axle from a 1974 F250 will work for a swap inot my 1995 F150. I have a chance to get one cheap. I know the 78-79 Dana 44's will work, just was wondering if the 74 will too and how do I make sure it will work. Is there measurements i should take or what.

You're much better off with a 78-79 F150 front. The 74F250 front will have 8 lugs, drums, and a pinion practically pointed at the ground. Plus, there are leaf pads instead coil cups. I have put a 78F150 front in my 94, with not much trouble. I paid $100 for the used front, the cheap 74 cost won't be worth the cheap price. PM me if you need a parts list.

Thanks for the information. I would love a parts list. I have secured a Dana 44 from a 79. I assumed that I would have to buy a kit from Fabtech or someone to put it in. The kits comes with upper spring plates, shock mounts, steering stuff, a 2" rear block and things. I guess the new axle will raise the front two inches. It also has instruction which I will be in great need of. Does your parts list eliminate the need for a kit, it is quite expensive at 1300 dollars.
