engine upgrade

Hey everybody, i have a 95 150 w/302 4x4. I have 165000 miles, and am starting to feel like I'm not making the power i should be. ( i bought the truck about a month ago). I think i want to go too a 351. Can anybody tell me any problems i may run into as far as non compatibility. Will the ecm work the same, wiring harness, exhaust manifolds, tranny mounting, feel injection Ect... Anything you can think of or have experienced yourselves. The tranny code is a u Erich is something like a 4r70w our something like that, and it's 4x4. thanks in advance, i really want this to go smoothly

before you tear out your engine, have you made sure that it is tuned up and running at its best capability? 165k is nothing for an engine if it is well taken care of. the 302 has alot of upgrade potential and it sounds the best imo. was the 302 mass air in 95?

That's where you're wrong, those things are 10% bigger than stock so your speedo is indicating 6mph slower than you're actually going and the odometer is also racking up fewer miles than actually covered. If for example the truck went 215mi on a 16g tank with stock tires it's now only indicating 196mi, so fuel milage also looks worse at 12.25 vs 13.6mpg even though it really isn't any worse. But if your truck was undergeared to begin with.. anything less than 3.55 in the axles it's going to feel more sluggish too.. the 5.0 doesn't produce much low rpm torque so it needs more gearing to compensate.

The gears are 3.55. I really appreciate the help, i had a truck similar to this one in high school and have always wanted another one. Is kinda liner my dream truck. I just want it to be fun to drive. I'm not trying to make it a race truck by any means. I just want to be able to get or in traffic. I an also wondering if the Trans may be the prob, sometimes it's fine, like shifting from park to drive it does just done, almost like it dosent kick down until you stand on it then it drops HARD. any suggestions would be really appreciate ed. I'm kinda stuck as to wich direction to go in
