Biggest thing to improve mileage is to adjust your driving. Wind resistance increases with speed so don't lean on the throttle. Also, what transmission, gear ratio and tire size do you have? A 5 speed will get you the best possible mileage from your truck but if you like autos than the electronic E4od has overdrive. The C6 is bulletproof but no OD so economy suffers.
I have a '90 F250 460/C6/3.55:1ls and if I keep it below 55 I think I'm getting ~12-13. Once I was able to get 15 empty and when I moved I averaged 5mpg over a 1200 mile trip going 60-65 when I could and going over several mountain passes.

don't bother with an new intake or an expensive exhaust kit, especially a cat-back system. The airhorn mod and a custom exhaust from a good local shop will be as good as any aftermarket bolt-on.
