LOL. Total tank MPG manually calculated at fill up was 46mpg. That was with some "break in" driving. The computer calculated the 50.2 to Chicago but I have read the computer is about 2mpg optimistic so it was most likely 48mpg to chicago. Got 46 on the way back with a head/cross wind. This is better than expected since the motor is far from being broke in and should only get better. I do mostly highway driving 80/20. Most are getting 38mpg combined city/hwy. Pretty darn good. I am not a big hybrid fan so the Diesel does make sense to me.
That's awesome. I can't believe they don't sell more small displacement diesels in US cars. I hear rumors that GM is planning a little diesel in their mid size trucks pretty soon. It just makes more sense than the Hybrid (or --gag!--EV) technology does.
lol
Yeah im not much of a hybrid fan either... ive seen diesel do all too well to want a half gas half electric.
The all electrics however I see a possible future in. Like of all the alternatives electric seems the most viable. Just put in quick charge stations at parking lots and stuff. Rather than like hydrogen which would require a way to mass produce it and then changing all gas stations to work with hydrogen.
Anyway sorry to OT. I am in Mech Engineering and alternative energy has always appealed to me.. huge supporter of diesel.

I believe Ford has a 4cyl turbo diesel Ranger only in the EU...
I hear it gets like 28 highway. and still puts out decent hp/tq
