I bought a new P-3 in April or May for our first outing with the Flagstaff 21-footer. It played faultlessly for the five days we had it out in June.
I haven't been in the truck much lately, especially at night, but last night I jumped in and noticed the P3 came on with a garbled display. Hmmmm.....
When I got home I pulled it out and brought it inside with me.
This morning I called them, and talked to a tech. He told me to plug it back in, as I had enabled a power-on re-set if that's all that was necessary. I did.
Unfortunately, no dice!
I called them back and got a different tech, explained it again, and he emailed me a couple of addresses (one for UPS, one for USPS), and told me to send it in. A new one would be sent upon arrival there.
I asked about the warranty, and he just replied, "Lifetime".
I asked about proof of purchase (you collect a LOT of receipts when buying and provisioning an RV camp trailer), and he replied, "Not necessary".
It's going off to them this afternoon.
So far, I couldn't ask for better customer service, and I'm happy I spent just a little more to buy something made, and serviced, in the USA!
Many have had the same experience with them. They are so great to do business with. A few years ago I had to troubleshoot a controller with them and they actually waited on line (from the house) as I went outside to do what they asked! Amazing...he was still waiting when I got back!! And best thing was, what he told me to do fixed the problem!!! I'm amazed that EVERYONE doesn't own their controllers!
Very good company. I had a used Primus brake controller, the customer service helped me set it up. Very good company to deal with. I love my current Tekonsha Voyager.
I've got an 02 F250SD 4x4 w/ tow package. I havent used it much for towing other than dragging a tandem flatbed owens classic trailer back and forth to the lumberyard or to take my compact tractor for servicing. I've never wired a brake controler for the trailer brakes, mainly cause I don't go but a few miles on back roads with the trailer. I recently used the trailer to haul a car in for repair, and boy did I need trailer brakes! I found the factory connector that came with the truck when I bought it new. I also found, new and still in the box, a PowerStop brand electronic controller (model 500-PS) in the garage. I vaguely remember getting it from the guy I bought the trailer from, but never used it. My question is does anybody know if this is a good brand of controller? . Is it worth trying it out or is it junk? I bought the trailer about 15 yrs ago, so this controller has to be that age or older. I've read posts raving about Tekonsha controlers (this post and others) and they sound great. What do you guys think? Where did you get your Tekonsha? How much?
When Tekonsha returned my P-3 a couple of weeks ago, it was simply a BRAND new one, complete with bracket, case, and generic wiring pigtail. Just like I had bought a new one off the shelf.
This one works perfectly, and I had the trailer out this weekend and it all played flawlessly!
Couldn't ask for any better service than Tekonsha gave me.
