I've narrowed down the knocking to a slight ping. I have found that I'm missing a part. Not sure what it is but it has 2 wires from the computer going in on one side, a vaccum hose from the intake and another hose from the fuel tank go into the other side of it. It also has one small line that plugs into the bottom. Obviously it has to do with Air/Fuel but not sure of the part name? It's mounted to the driver's side firewall. Anybody know what I'm talking about??

So you're saying it has 2 wires and 3 vacuum lines? The MAP sensor has 3 wires & 1 vac line and is on the firewall; the purge solenoid has 2 wires & 2 vac lines and hangs between the engine & the R wheelwell; the carbon canister has 2-4 vac lines,no wires, and is mounted to the frame under the battery; a DPFE sensor has 3 wires and 2 rubber lines and goes on the R side of the engine, but it wasn't used until ~'95; the 3 solenoid valves that control the smog pump & EGR have 2 wires & 2 vac lines each (but they share some, so all together 4-5 lines) and are mounted near the rear of the engine.
I couldn't find the part in your pictures. The motor I'm working on is out of a 1996 Ford E250 van. It is a 5.8L H.O.
It is some kind of valve but there is a specific name for it that I can't figure out!!
2 wires from computer plug into the left side.
2, rubber 5/8" hoses. 1 to fuel tank, 1 to intake manifold hook into right side with clips.
1 small plastic vaccum line that hooks into the bottom.
Looking at it it looks like a valve with a cap that's attached to a round diaphram of sorts. Black in color.
I'm not familiar enough with the vans to ID it, but it sounds like there are at least 2 parts disconnected. What are the wire colors in the connector, and what shape is it? If you'll search the classifieds for "steve83" and send me an e-mail, I'll send you a couple of pics off the service CD that may help. Be sure to identify yourself (username) and remind me what you need.
I suggested that, but he says 3 vac lines. I know there's some part sorta like that on MAF trucks on the R upper firewall, but I've never tracked down what it is or what it's called. I think it's the solenoid for the DPFE-controlled EGR.
