Diesel average up nearly 9 cents for the week

The average price for diesel fuel went up nearly 9 cents for the week ending Monday, July 23. The U.S. Energy Information Administration reported the average at $3.783 for the week.
The West Coast region experienced an increase of nearly 10 cents during the past seven days including a 9-cent increase in California. The Lower Atlantic region saw an increase of 10.5 cents in its average.
Following are the average prices for the week as reported by the EIA:
U.S. – $3.783, up 8.8 cents
East Coast – $3.826, up 8.5 cents
New England – $3.916, up 6.8 cents
Central Atlantic – $3.900, up 6.2 cents
Lower Atlantic – $3.753, up 10.5 cents
Midwest – $3.749, up 9 cents
Gulf Coast – $3.711, up 9.4 cents
Rocky Mountain – $3.701, up 2.9 cents
West Coast – $3.901, up 9.8 cents
West Coast less California – $3.812, up 10.7 cents
California – $3.976, up 9 cents
Oil prices went up last week but were falling on Monday on news that China’s state-owned oil company could soon own the assets of Canadian oil companies Nexen and Talisman.
The New York Mercantile Exchange showed U.S. light sweet crude oil at $88.42 per barrel during midday trading, down $3.41 over the weekend.
